Broom Admiral River Cruiser - - SOLD

Built by C.J.Broom & Sons, Brundall, Norfolk in 1961, the United Kingdom’s longest established motor boat manufacturer from its foundation in 1898. Constructed of mahogany on oak frames, a bespoke build strengthened and lengthened for costal voyages to enable exploring the numerous rivers and inland waterways around the UK. Completely varnished to the waterline and antifoulded below, with varnished top sides and cabin sides she is a stunning craft at 43 feet in length.

Engine: Marinised BMC Commodore 3.4 litre 4 cylinder diesel with only 773 hours from new in 1961.

History

Privately commissioned by Professor Mayne of Cambridge in 1961, she has always been stored in the factory wet boathouse and maintained by Broom's for fifty two years, any work that has been required during her lifetime has been carried out by the Broom factory boatbuilders, including replacement of defective planking, caulking, and revarnishing. A current Boat Safety Certificate and survey are available, plus full original documentary history.

Retaining all her original fixtures and fittings.

Open cockpit aft 0.91m.(3ft.) with white canvas hood. Double folding doors to Galley 1.0m.(3ft.6in.) with to Port, gas hob, combination oven, full size fridge, work surface To port, stainless steel sink and drainer with worktop and cupboards. Aft Saloon 2.18m.(7ft.2in.) with polished mahogany interior, upholstered sofa to both sides with drawer stowage under, central bespoke mahogany folding leaf table. Full height storage locker to port and large toilet / WC to starboard, fitted with, wash basin, electric toilet. Steps up to Central Wheelhouse 1.83m.(6ft.)wheel steering to port with original Broom stainless instrument panel, folding upholstered bench seating to both sides, fresh water tank to port, fuel tank to starboard. Cabin sole lifting for access to batteries, engine and holding tank. Sash window style cabin sides and cantilever roof for open top style cruising also reduces airdraft to 2.1m.(6ft.9in.)Steps down on starboard side to Double Cabin 1.83m.(6ft.) with athwart double berth and locker stowage, dressing table, wardrobe, Webasto heating unit housed beneath the berth. Corridor with very large family toilet - w/c to port and seperate shower room to starboard, ladder access to roof hatch. Forepeak 1.83m.(6ft.) with a pair of vee berths and locker stowage.
